Objectives/Goals (Essential Learnings):
- Students will learn what the difference between an informational and
a selling brochure.
- Students will research various information to make their own
brochure.
Reading
- comprehend important ideas and details.
- read to learn new information.
Writing
- write in a variety of forms.
Materials Needed:
- Informational books (e.g. "How Things Work?", "Sea Animals", or
"Planets" etc.)
- Colored pens, crayons, markers.
- White paper
Procedures:
- Start out with asking does anyone know what a brochure is? Discuss
what brochures are and how are they are used. Explain that here are two types of
brochures: informational and a brochure trying to sell something.
- Students will pick one informational book and make a brochure about
something about they find in this book.
- Their brochures can be either informational or a brochure selling
something.
Assessment:
- Students will write descriptions, facts, costs about the item they
found in research.
- Students can draw pictures, maps, or other things about their
item.
- Students will be able to tell me the difference between an
informational brochure and a brochure that is selling something.
